Synaptic properties

This sub-section evaluates the anatomy and physiology of in silico excitatory and inhibitory synaptic pathways in the reconstructed microcircuit against relevant literature.

Evaluated properties include spine and bouton densities, synaptic innervation patterns, mean. no. of synaptic contacts/connection, connection probabilities, transm itter release probabilities, AMPA, NMDA, GABAA, and GABAB receptor peak conductances, EPSC/IPSC kinetic and dynamic properties (latency, amplitude, rise time & decay time constant), EPSP/IPSP kinetic and dynamic properties (latency, amplitude, rise time & decay time constant), transmission failure rates, c.v. of EPSP/IPSP amplitudes, and short term depression & facilitation.

The results of the consistency check were categorized as consistent, inconsistent, possibly consistent, input,not implemented or not applicable based on agreement with a given evaluation criterion.

The dendritic morphologies of CCS cells were correlated with their somatic depth within the cortex. CCS cells had reciprocal synaptic connections with each other and also provided synaptic input to CPn cells.
